Game Content
Not sure Indie would approve of the Raiders of the Lost Book by GameArt, especially not their depiction of what an “Ark” style raider looks like. That said, Mr Johns and the wild and beautiful Professor Lola are every bit the intrepid explorer in this Egyptian adventure slot.
What they are looking for is the Golden Egyptian Ankh and Eye of Horus, and the infamous and sought-after Golden Book of Secrets that leads to 10 Free Spins and a fabulous Expanding Symbol feature. What you’re looking for is the 3 scatter symbols that lead to a Bonus round, it’s the best way to bigger pots.
Raiders of the Lost Book Game Features
Free Spins
Raiders of the Lost Book is a 5×3-reel slot game with 10 paylines. The danger-laden path to these untold Egyptian riches is illuminated by the revelation of three or more Golden Book scatter symbols. That’s the trigger that opens the gateway to the Bonus Game, and once unlocked, presents you with 10 Free Spins.
Expanding Mystery Symbol
Now that you’ve opened the Bonus round, an automatic selection process grants you a random symbol that becomes the Expanding Mystery Symbol during your Free Spins. This symbol has the power to expand in the Free Spins round. Collect three and your rows expand and the payout is added to your total Free Round win. Five Bonus Symbols across each of the 5 rows offer the maximum prize pot.
Bonus Buy
There is an easier way to the Free Spins round, and that’s to activate the Bonus Buy feature to the left of the game. The Bonus Buy will cost you x100 your bet, so bet €1, and your buy-in cost is €100. This might be the shortest way to bagging Free Spins, but it isn’t the cheapest way and doesn’t always pan out. Luck plays its part here, but you’ll need loads of it to win more than x100 your bet in 10 Free spins. It’s possible, but unlikely.
Safer Gambling
The Safer gambling options in this Book of… game are not as complex as we’d like them to be, but they do offer basic restrictions that can help you regulate your play. Stop at a Win, Stop at Loss and Stop if Balance is reduced/increased is activated. All of which are operated through the Autospin function. The rest is a good old-fashioned dose of self-control.
Book Feature
Raiders of the Lost Book by GameArt is a basic version of all Book of…series of books, with all the classic Book of… Bonus options. Spin and drop three or more scatter symbols and the Free Spins feature is triggered.
Prizes in this game were OK, but we spent lots of time waiting for the Free Spins round. In that time, we bagged plenty of “empty” spins and a handful of small (less than our bet) wins. What turned out to be a redeeming feature of the game was the actual Free Spins round and the Gamble Feature. Both proved to be very generous. Luck plays its part here, but once the wins started to roll, this game picked up.
Gamble Feature
The Gamble Feature in this game is simple enough, just a basic Red or Black option. This is a great little add-on that we love on BigBookofSlots.com, but it does come with a warning. Betting 50/50 on lower wins is OK, betting 50/50 on big wins such as your Free Spins total might be a tad too risky.
Conclusion
Raiders of the Lost Book does not solve the unending search for the perfect Tomb-based Egyptian-themed Book of Games. This is not that Book. That said it did keep me occupied for long enough to see the positives that this game offers. Yes, it’s basic, and yes the graphics are nowhere near as good as other GameArt games, but then again it probably isn’t trying to be.
GameArt is fabulous at what they do and this game proves it. Not in an over complicated graphics-rich game kind of way, but in a simplistic easy-to-play, easy-to-like way that most players will appreciate. Will this game make my top ten list? NO, but I have been back and played it more than once, which is sort of the point.
Game Developer
GameArt is a master of the different. This game isn’t a perfect example of how they work, but it is a good game to play. The other Book of… games in their portfolio are brilliant.
There is a magic to GameArt games that transcends the usual gambling portal that most of us are looking for. There is a beauty to every game that brings out the inner child. GameArt is cleaver developer that loves what it does.
