Endorphina has a habit of picking a theme that is anything but dull while making a game that absolutely nails the brief. The Book of Conquistador is that game. Set in the “untouched world, a forgotten world” of South America somewhere, this game starts with a fabulous welcoming one-liner and continues with graphics to fall in love with.

This is a standard Book of… game with 5 reels – 3 rows, so the set-up isn’t new and not very exciting if we are honest, but the game itself is great, and probably one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played in a while. It started as a bit of a “funds drain” as I managed nothing more than half wins on the first 15 or so spins. Wins that didn’t cover my bet, which are essentially losses, before I bagged an absolute beast of a win, and it all took off from there.

Getting 5-of-a-kind twice in one spin and three Book symbols doesn’t happen very often, or at least not to me. Add to that the extra Free Spins I got during my bonus round, and this game started to rock. To cash-out with a pot nearly 5x the size of the one I started with isn’t the norm, so luck obviously smiled on me. It also changed my outlook on this game, as I started to appreciate the added features of this game a little more. Winning makes you do that from time to time 🙂

Conquistador Gameplay

“Book of Conquistador” by Endorphina features a 5-reel, 3-row setup with 10 paylines. The legendary Book of Conquistador serves as both the SCATTER and WILD symbol. Collect ancient treasures such as gold coins, golden masks, maps, necklaces, and rings as you search for the fabled lost city!

Landing 3 or more SCATTER symbols triggers 10 Free Games with a special expanding symbol. These Free Games are played with the same bets and lines as the base game and can be retriggered during the feature. The WILD symbol substitutes for 9 regular symbols but cannot replace the special expanding symbols.

At the start of the Free Games feature, a special expanding symbol is hidden within the Book of Conquistador and is randomly selected. This symbol expands vertically if there are enough to complete a winning combination on the reels. The expansion occurs after the payout of regular symbols. Players can double their winnings up to 10 times in the Classic Risk Game.

Book Symbols

As with most Book of… games, the Book symbols act as both Wilds and Scatters, which means that they can both substitute for pay symbols in winning combinations or trigger the Free Spins feature.

Gamble Feature

This is possibly the best gamble feature in a Book of… game yet. As far as gamble features go, it looks basic enough, but is done in a clever way that allows the player to “backout” of the bet. It’s a simple higher-lower card game where the first card is shown, then you need to pick a face-down card and hope that its higher. There are 4 to choose from, so the odds are not completely against you. However, it’s a gamble feature so nothing is guaranteed.

The first card is shown face-up, which makes things a little easier, as you still have the chance to walk-a-way (collect) rather than gamble. Basically, if the card shown is a king, then your chances of getting higher are seriously slim, so you collect. If the face card is a 2, it’s a no-brainer, gamble. Cards of equal value cancel out the win/loss, so you are dealt new cards.

Safer Gambling Features

This game comes with a 5 star rated Safer Gambling features. All of which, are run through the autoplay mode. These stop-safe features are numerous and customisable. You can limit the number of Spins, Play time, Stop when Single Win, Stop when balance decreased by, and Stop when balance increased. All of which need to be manually adjusted but are worth the effort and act as a handy way to control your gambling.

The Book of Conquistador comes with a fabulous statistics chart too This lets you know exactly how much you’ve played, won, and most importantly lost. This is the most important tool in the game, so make sure you use it. Having live play info is crucial when it comes to a safer gambling environment for players.

Bonus Feature Free Spins

This Book game is built around the classic scatter symbols that you’d normally get with any Book of… slot. However, there are multiple elements added which make this game unique. Bag either 3, 4, or 5 Book symbols to trigger the Free Spins feature that start with 10 Free spins.

Bonus Pop feature

This game comes with a “Bonus pop” feature which is a Buy feature. You need to opt-in for this feature and it will cost you 100x your bet to guarantee 3 Book scatter symbols, which lead to 10 Free Spins. “Free” being a poor choice of words, as this is an expensive feature that you don’t need. Once chosen, your funds are debited the amount and you are taken to the Bonus round.

In order to make this feature pay for itself, you need to win more than your starting fee. The cheapest buy-in is €9.10, but with a starting bet of €0.10 and an average win of between €0.20 – €0.70, you’ll need a small miracle to break even. It’s possible, but I’ve tested similar features on hundreds of games and probably evened out 10 times. My advice is to play the game the way it’s meant to be played, one spin at a time.

Book of Conquistador Game Conclusion

I love the “Discover a completely untouched world, a forgotten world” starting headline to this game. The Book of Conquistador is an exciting adventure slot by Endorphina, featuring 5 reels, 3 rows, and 10 paylines. Follow a map that leads you to the forgotten treasure, hidden somewhere inside the lost temples.

There are better games out there, but this is fast becoming one of my favourite games. Endorphina is all about the design and entertainment factor in their games, and in the Book of Conquistador they haven’t disappointed. This game comes with a very cool back-story and a brilliant opening one-liner that leads the player to a game packed full of tasteful graphics, an engaging soundtrack, and a fabulously cool gamble feature. The Bonus round is worth the wait too, especially when you land an expanding symbol. The Buy Feature is a little pricy, but then they always are.

Long story short, this is a very enjoyable game that could make my top 10 game list. The only thing stopping me from adding it to that exclusive list is the fact that this game is only 5-3-10. Add a 4^th row, or a 6^th reel and it’s a done deal. Over to you Endorphina.
