A serious blow to one of the gambling industries biggest names, as BGO UK license suspension by the Gambling Commission takes hold. Failure to protect consumers pursuant to section 118 (2) of the UK Gambling Act was the reason given.
Note: The suspension does not prevent BGO from allowing players to access their accounts and withdraw funds.
UK GC Suspension
In a statement from the British Gambling Commission. “We have made it clear to the operator that during the course of the suspension, we expect it to focus on treating consumers fairly and keeping them fully informed of any developments which impact them,” said the Commission.
This action comes as a follow-on action issued against the casino brand from October 2020. Special conditions were attached to their licenses for social responsibility and money laundering failures. BGO also received a fine of £2m, which was used to support the implementation of the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms.
It’s not just the BGO Casino that has fallen foul of the British Gambling Commission, but the BGO brands too. Power Spins, Vegas Luck and Chilli Casino have all been affected by the suspension. While a solution is being worked on by the BGO group, all links to their UK facing sites will not accept new players. All links to other countries and regions are still active.
BGO Reaction
In a statement from BGO, “It is with regret that we have to inform you that UK players are not currently permitted to access any of our services. We’re working with the Gambling Commission to resolve this situation quickly, but in the meantime, you are able to withdraw any funds currently in your account. Deposits will not be permitted.”
