Nothing says romance like a Romeo and Juliet-based game and the Book of Romeo & Julia is all about romance. A true Valentine’s Day special that makes you want to travel to Verona and stare up at a balcony and think about love.
Alas Love’s young dream is missing in part from this game, as this is just another slot game that is built around the most famous love story of all time. I can’t help but feel that Gamomat has missed an opportunity to “mop up” in this genre. Alas, this is just another slot game. It even has the original slot game noises, so there is no need to play this game with headphones or the sound on.
The only time there is any “music”, is when you win, or during the build-up to bagging three scatter symbols, then the game briefly comes alive. Other than that, it’s the same noise you get on all other Gamomat slot games.
Take away the pictures of dreamy young lovers and a few symbols of that famous love such as the dagger and the love letters, and you’d be hard-pushed to figure out what game you were playing. This is the original Book of the Romeo & Julia series from Gamomat with The Golden Nights as the follow-up.
The graphics are basic at best and the game itself is a little dull in comparison with other Gamomat games, not least the Golden Nights version of this game.
There is no safer gambling element in this game. This is just a spin-and-win game with a basic autoplay mode.

The Book of Romeo & Julia is built around the classic scatter symbols that you’d normally get with any Book of… slot. Free spins start once you trigger the Bonus rounds. You start with 10 free spins.
Prizes in this game are pretty good, but not epic, and getting the scatter symbol (3 books) is as difficult as actually finding true love. That said, I bagged the scatter symbols and was happily surprised at the result. The pot that I walked away with was one of the biggest I’ve won on any Book of… game. It all depends on your stake, and luck, as this is a random feature, so there is no guarantee that your pot will be as big, but it will be generous.
Gamble Feature
There are two gamble features in this game. The classic higher or lower ladder and the simple 50/50 Red or Black game. Neither options work in autospin mode. The rest is just good old-fashioned spins.
Conclusion
There’s no doubting the talent at Gamomat, but the Book of Romeo & Julia falls a little flat when it comes to game mechanics and excitement. This is sad because nothing says romance like a Romeo and Juliet-based game and the Book of Romeo & Julia is all about romance. This game is screaming out for a gamble feature, a respin feature, and a little bit of love.
That said, the Book of Romeo & Julia is a game worth playing, just not a game that many will fall head over heels for. Gamomat has better video slot games, including the fabulous Book of Madness and Book of Madness Respins.
