This is a tough review to write because I really liked playing the Books & Pearls game, but I longed for there to be a proper soundtrack to it other than the usual Gamomat slot machine noise. This game really comes alive when you bag one of the Bonus features.

The excitement mounts and the game changes from being something that you stick your cash into and becomes entertainment with a proper pirate’s theme and sound. In fact, this game adds sound to every win. The bigger the win the better the soundtrack, especially if there are multiple wins, it sounds like a mini sword fight. Cheesy perhaps, but it adds to the game and stops it from being just another slot game.

Alas, 90% of this game will be played with the sound off, which is a real shame, because that’s not what we want. That said, it does have its plus points, which are mostly the Bonus feature games.

There is no safer gambling element other than the good old-fashioned manual click option. Which is good for me. What better way to control your game than a little willpower and an urge to play something else.

Gamomat is, without doubt, one of the best at what they do. All their games are worth playing, and regardless of soundtrack or slots spiel background noise. This game isn’t the best they have to offer, as their Book of… games list is spectacular. Which, includes the original Ramses and all the other Ramses’ that followed.

The Books & Pearls is built around the classic scatter symbols that you’d normally get with any Book of… slot. Bag a minimum of three scatter symbols to trigger your 10 Free spins Bonus round. The second part of the Bonus feature is the “Pearls” part, which is just another bonus round that gives you 15 free spins to start. A good little earner once triggered. Warning, the auto free spin function is limitless, so you could be there a while.

Prizes in this game are not massive, and to be honest, they are good. Lots of smaller prize pots that don’t quite cover your bet, but they all add up. The Bonus round pots are good and often in this game. Obviously, that’s a random feature, so you might be luckier or less so.

Gamble Feature

There are two options at a gamble feature in this game. You can either opt for the “Red or Black” playing card or the “higher or lower” ladder game. Neither pans out as well as we hope they will, so the risk is large, especially if you gamble with a sizeable win. The rest is just a good old-fashioned spin-to-win action.
