The long-awaited second Book of… from the brilliant Elk Studios has landed with the seriously entertaining Book of Sam. Fans of the Electric Sam games will instantly feel at home with Sam’s progress in gaming entertainment and the serious upgrade from his Electric casino in the troll forest.
All the usual suspects are in this game, with Sandra and Maggie making up the characters in their epic trip to Vegas. This story is built around a Casino in Vegas. The graphics and entertainment values in the Book of Sam compared with the original game, are worlds apart. Elk Studios have managed to keep some semblance of originality in the storyline while updating the hell out of this game
The soundtrack is a tad too enthusiastic, and after a while, it becomes a little annoying, but not enough to make me want to turn it off.
There are a few clever game features that make this game stand out. The Electric Treat is a brilliant and generous addition to the game and has on occasion paid out better than the Bonus round. The basics of an Electric Treat are triggering the re-spins bonus. Not every spin results in a win, but this bonus round does pay out. Obviously, luck plays its part here.
Elk Studios love to build a story behind every game that they do. It’s not enough to just have a game with colourful reels and slots, they go the extra mile and add detail with a complex backstory that makes every game stand out. The Book of Sam and the Book of Toro is brilliant adaptions of their original storylines.
The safer gambling element is missing in this game, and the auto-play is limited. The rest is a good old-fashioned dose of self-restraint.
Elk Studios create games that are packed full of colour and character, with soundtracks that make you want to listen. Everything that they do has entertainment at the forefront, with the gambling element following. That sounds like a bad thing, but it isn’t. All their games are designed to engage the player, and that’s exactly what they do. Another book by Elk Studio is the epically brilliant Book of Toro.
The Book of Sam has all the classic Book of… Bonus options and then some. Spin and drop three or more scatter symbols and the Free Spins feature is triggered. You are then taken to the actual Book of Sam which reveals your Bonus symbol, and the spins begin. You start with 8 free spins.
Prizes in this game are generous enough, especially if you manage to trigger the Electric Treats, or the respins. That said, it took us a long time to trigger the free spins through the Book scatter symbols, but the Electric Treat function paid out just as well, sometimes better!
There is no gamble feature in this game, just good old-fashioned reels, and spins with tasty graphics.
