The latest edition to the Book of… series of games from the seriously talented Relax Gaming is the Book of Power. An Egyptian-themed game with plenty of recognisable features. However, since there are soooo many tomb-based slots, we’ve come to expect a certain basic standard and the Book of Power by Relax Gaming is no exception.

The Book of Ra started it all off, and from there we have hand many adaptions, so what we look for now is something different. The format for a standard run-of-the-mill Book of… game is the same, 3-5-10, so the game needs a little something extra. Luckily for us, the Book of Power has that in the form of a well-placed “Power Bet button”, which essentially doubles your bet and increases your feature pot chance by a potential 170%. Not guaranteed obviously, but the times that we used it, it worked out well enough.

There’s more, this game comes with a “Skip to the good bit” option with a contentious Buy Feature. Normally at this point, we scream from the rooftops to get you to avoid it, but in combination with the Power Bet button, the buy feature offers something more than just an expensive way to Free Spins. Use the “regular” buy feature and it will cost you 100x your bet, while the “Power Bet” buy feature will set you back a massive 200x selected bet. However, the payout was impressive. Obviously, luck played its part, but if the payout was this good all the time, we’d never stop using it.

The rest of the game is the same quality that you’d expect from a seasoned pro like Relax Gaming, but there isn’t really much more to it. This is a good tomb-based Book of… game that has some tasty graphics and an OK soundtrack. The sad part is, this game will appeal to loads of players, but it won’t make their favourite lists the way that the aging and still awesome Book of Ra does.

The safer gambling element of this game is limited. Basically what you get here is a good old-fashioned dose of self-restraint, or in other words, this is just a spin and win the game with a basic autoplay mode.

The Book of Power is built around the classic scatter symbols that you’d normally get with any Book of… slot. Three trigger the Bonus spins, but four or five multiple your pot buy 20 or 200 times, which is a game changer. You are then taken to the actual Book of Power which reveals your Bonus symbol, and the spins begin.

You start with 10 free spins. However, drop three or more scatter symbols on a single spin during the bonus game, and not only do you get an additional +10 extra free spins, and another expanding Bonus symbol.

Prizes in this game are generous enough, especially when playing the Bonus rounds. Drop the extra symbol and the wins just go crazy. That said, it took us a long time to trigger the free spins through the Book scatter symbols, but opting for the Buy Now feature might not be a prudent shortcut.

Gamble Feature

There is no gamble feature as such in this game, just a Power Bet button that increases your stake of pot payout percentages should you win. in this game, but you can buy “extra Free spins”. The rest is just good old-fashioned reels and spins with good graphics and a soundtrack that sounds like Egypt of days gone by, or so we think.
